Woo, Zul'Aman is coming. buy wow goldAnother dang troll instance. buy wow goldAnother fight against my brothers and sisters. buy wow goldAnother slog through endless high priests and animal aspects. buy wow goldAnother raid of "Sorry there, buy wow goldI thought you were one of the mobs so I was trying to fight you." buy wow goldWe've killed so many trolls now, buy wow goldI think it's about buy wow goldtime we know what we've been fighting.buy wow gold

Troll lore is cheap wow goldextremely interesting, but it's also ridiculously confusing. cheap wow goldI mean, how many cheap wow goldtroll tribes have we launched genocides against by now? cheap wow goldHow are all these trolls related, cheap wow goldanyway? Do any trolls actually get along with other trolls? cheap wow goldRead on, cheap wow goldand we'll try to sort through some of the muddy tangles of troll history. cheap wow goldNext week we'll actually get to Zul'jin himself, who was originally the focus of this article before it got horrendously long. cheap wow gold

Who: Trolls!

What: Trolls!

History: First, wow goldbefore this gets too confusing, let's do a basic summary of the wow goldsort of trolls you're going to run into in WoW, wow goldso you can connect the names with the in-game models. wow goldJungle trolls are the skinny dudes in the Temple of Atal'hakkar, Stranglethorn Vale, Zul'Gurub, wow goldand Darkshore. The Darkspear trolls -- the playable race of trolls -- wow goldare also jungle trolls. wow goldForest trolls include the troll enemies in Hinterlands, LBRS, wow goldGhostlands, and Eastern Plaguelands, wow goldand the Horde-friendly Revantusk trolls. wow goldIce trolls are found in Northrend and Dun Morogh, wow goldand sand trolls are the guys in Zul'Farrak. wow goldA basic troll identification guide is skin color. wow goldForest trolls are green, wow goldjungle trolls are blue/purple, ice trolls are white/light blue, wow goldand sand trolls are beige. An excellent guide to troll looks can be found here. What? We're not racist.wow gold

Now that we've got that out of the way, World of Warcraft Goldthe story can begin. World of Warcraft GoldMany, many years ago, World of Warcraft Goldthere was a troll tribe called the Zandalar. These were the original trolls, and they valued knowledge, World of Warcraft Goldspirituality, and peace. World of Warcraft GoldThey built a beautiful capital city named Zuldazar on the content of Kalimdor, which was at that World of Warcraft Goldtime the only continent on Azeroth. World of Warcraft GoldSome more warlike trolls decided to split World of Warcraft Goldoff from the priest-based society of the Zandalar and headed to the far north and far south of Kalimdor. World of Warcraft GoldThere they founded two warring empires: World of Warcraft Goldthe Amani Empire and the Gurubashi Empire, World of Warcraft Goldnamed after the troll tribes at their heads, but better known as the forest and jungle trolls. World of Warcraft Gold

The troll tribes became bitter enemies, World of Warcraftbut faced a greater challenge when a new race came along: the magical night elves. World of Warcraft(There was also something in there about fighting the Qiraji insectoids, World of Warcraftbut like everything else with the Qiraji, it sucks and we're going to pretend it never happened.) World of WarcraftThe night elves quickly dismantled the troll empires while expanding their own territories. Defeated, the trolls developed a seething hatred for the elves, World of Warcraftwhich was not improved when the Burning Legion came to town and the Well of Eternity imploded, World of Warcraftsundering the continent. World of WarcraftThe Zandalar tribe was all right, since their city had somehow survived intact to become an island and a troll mecca in the South Seas. World of WarcraftHowever, the jungle trolls and the forest trolls didn't have it quite as good.

Jungle trolls: buy wow goldThe two troll empires managed to rebuild some of their buy wow goldold territories in the Ghostlands and Stranglethorn Vale, buy wow goldbut the forests were tough and they barely survived. The Gurubashi Empire turned to worshipping the god Hakkar, buy wow goldwho helped them expand buy wow goldtheir territory across much of the continent. buy wow goldBut the god turned into a bitter and cranky deity, buy wow golddemanding blood sacrifices buy wow goldand finally asking to be summoned into the world. buy wow goldThe Atal'ai and Hakkari priests acquiesed for different reasons, buy wow goldand built the Temple of Atal'Hakkar and (eventually) Zul'Gurub. The rest of the jungle trolls disavowed and attacked these priests while continuing to fight among themselves. buy wow gold

Eventually, cheap wow goldthe small Darkspear tribe got sick of getting picked on and cheap wow goldset sail across the sea, cheap wow goldwhere they landed in a cove off of Kalimdor. One day, cheap wow golda fleet of green-skinned, cheap wow goldstocky creatures showed up on the island after their cheap wow goldships were damaged in a storm. cheap wow goldThe greenskins were orcs, and they and their leader, cheap wow goldThrall, were welcomed by the Darkspears and their chief, cheap wow goldSen'jin. cheap wow goldSen'jin warned Thrall that the island held many dangers, cheap wow goldincluding ... cheap wow goldMRGLEMRGLEMRGLE. A tribe of murlocs captured Thrall, cheap wow goldSen'jin, cheap wow goldand some of their countrymen. cheap wow goldThe murlocs imprisoned everyone but Sen'jin, cheap wow goldwhom they took away to sacrifice to a sea witch. cheap wow goldThrall and his men broke out of the prison, cheap wow goldbut they were too late to save Sen'jin, cheap wow goldwho was dying from his sacrificial wounds. cheap wow goldSen'jin told cheap wow goldThrall he had seen a vision of Thrall leading his people to Kalimdor. cheap wow gold

To repay the trolls for helping his people, wow goldThrall offered them a place in the New Horde, and a home in Durotar. Vol'jin, the son of Sen'jin and the new troll leader, wow goldaccepted the offered and set sail for Kalimdor. They created a new homeland in the Echo Isles. However, wow golda troll witch doctor, Zalazane, wow goldstarted turning the Darkspear trolls into zombies. Fearing for his people, wow goldthe (level 70 elite) Vol'jin ordered his (levels 12-14) people to abandon their new land to the (level 10 non-elite) Zalazane. wow goldThe trolls created Sen'jin Village instead, wow goldwhich still stands today as wow golda monument to Vol'jin's inability to do simple math.wow gold

Forest Trolls: wow goldUnlike the jungle trolls, the forest trollsdidn't fall into worshipping evil gods, wow goldpreferring to stick with the simple, wow goldold-time religious practices of voodoo and cannibalism. Instead, their threat came from the outside. wow goldThe Amani Empire had spread across most of northern Lordaeron, wow goldand the trolls were very happy until ... wow goldguess who showed up? wow goldThose damn arcane magic-addicted elves again, wow goldexcept this time they were called high elves. wow goldThe trolls were still pretty upset about the world being destroyed and attacked the elves. wow goldThe situation did not improve when the elves decided to make the city of Quel'thalas on top of some troll tribes, wow goldand also build magical wow goldrunestones to drive the trolls further away. wow gold

The races lived in wow goldan uneasy stalemate for several thousand years. wow goldBut during the reign of King Anasterian Sunstrider, wow goldthe forest trolls decided to strike back and raid Quel'thalas. wow goldOutnumbered, wow goldSunstrider called on the humans of Arathor to help him, wow goldand the new alliance shattered the troll empire. wow goldThe trolls were understandably pretty angry at this, wow goldso when they found wow goldout that the humans and the elves had joined this newfangled "Alliance" wow goldthat was fighting the "Horde" -- wow goldand the chieftain of wow goldthe "Horde" offered to take them under his wing -- wow goldthey joined together again and signed up for Hordedom under Zul'jin. wow goldThey provided a lot of forces to the Horde, wow goldbut when the Alliance turned the tables and defeated the Horde, the forest trolls abandoned their new allies and went home. wow gold(More on this next week.) wow goldA small group of forest trolls, the Revantusk Tribe, wow golddecided to join Thrall's new Horde, wow goldbut the rest reverted to their savage ways.wow gold

Other trolls: World of Warcraft GoldBlizzard's troll history site has a fascinating section World of Warcraft Goldon all sorts of weird trolls. World of Warcraft GoldThe ice trolls, World of Warcraft Goldfound in Northrend and Dun Morogh, World of Warcraft Goldwere exiled from the Zandalar for being brutal and bloodthirsty. They're the sworn enemies of the dwarves. World of Warcraft GoldThe sand trolls ended up stranded in Tanaris after the Great World of Warcraft GoldSundering, World of Warcraft Goldand got all sunburnt and red. World of Warcraft GoldThey built the city of Zul'Farrak and worship a World of Warcraft Goldgod named Gahr'zilla, World of Warcraft Goldwhich makes me feel bad about all the times I destroyed Zul'Farrak. I mean, we're pretty much doing the World of Warcraft Goldbidding of the expansionist goblin trade princes World of Warcraft Goldand destroying the native inhabitants of the land.

The dark trolls are rare trolls, World of Warcraft Goldsometimes thought to be a myth. World of Warcraft GoldThey live underground, World of Warcraft Goldhave a primitive society, World of Warcraft Goldand are seen as violent even for trolls. World of Warcraft GoldHowever, World of Warcraft Goldthe dark trolls joined the night elves to fight the Burning Legion on the slopes of Mount Hyjal, World of Warcraft Goldshowing that they cared about the fate of the world.World of Warcraft Gold

So what happened to the Zandalar? World of WarcraftAs mentioned earlier, World of Warcraftthe Zandalar were the first trolls and arguably the most civilized. World of WarcraftWhile most of the trolls eventually became members of the Amani and Gurubashi empires, World of Warcraftthey still revered the Zandalar as the priests and history-keepers World of Warcraftof the trolls. World of WarcraftAfter the Great Sundering, World of Warcraftthe nation of Zandalar and its capital, World of WarcraftZuldazar, became an island in the South Seas due World of Warcraftto the priests' protective spells, World of Warcraftand the Zandalar World of Warcraftretreated deep into their studies. World of WarcraftRecently, a small group of Zandalar trolls has come to Yojamba Isle in Stranglethorn Vale. They're there to encourage adventurers to go into Zul'Gurub and defeat the murderous troll god, Hakkar the Soulflayer.World of Warcraft

The most awesome thing about buy wow goldthe Zandalar and Zuldazar buy wow goldis that their island home is a strictly neutral territory, buy wow goldwhere all trolls of different tribes can come buy wow goldand mingle without fear of attack. buy wow goldAnd they actually do that! Every six years, buy wow goldemissaries from every troll tribe come to a conference in Zuldazar to discuss troll issues, buy wow goldled by the troll King Rastakhan. I strongly suspect that if the South buy wow goldSeas/Undermine is ever added into WoW, buy wow goldZuldazar will serve buy wow goldas (finally) a troll capital city.buy wow gold

I'm a member of the Alliance, wow goldand I think trolls are beastly, savage cannibals. wow goldCan you tell me anything that will make me hate myself? wow goldOkay. In all probability, wow goldnight elves are descended from trolls. wow goldAn in-game book, "The Twin Empires", wow goldcontains the following passage: "Ancient texts speak of a small wow goldfaction of trolls that broke off from the Amani Empire and founded their own colony in the heart of the dark continent. wow goldThere, these brave pioneers discovered the cosmic Well of Eternity which transformed them into beings of immense power. wow goldSome legends suggest that these adventurous trolls were the first Night Elves, though this theory has never been proven."wow gold

Trolls are the first race on Azeroth, World of Warcraft Goldnight elves are the second, World of Warcraft Goldand trolls and night elves have very similar appearances. It is strongly suspected that night elves are World of Warcraft Goldtrolls that wandered too close to the Well of World of Warcraft GoldEternity and mutated. World of Warcraft GoldHowever, World of Warcraft Goldnight elves get very angry when you mention this, World of Warcraft Goldand say that it's a way for trolls to marginalize night elf accomplishments and deal with their defeat by the early elves. World of Warcraft GoldThe night elves believe that they are descended from the goddess Elune herself, World of Warcraft Goldfurther proving my theory that elves are jerks.World of Warcraft Gold
